Mathis Bros can't get their phone number right.

Mathis Brothers has been posting my work phone number on their promotional ads and in the internet yellow pages. They can't seem to get this problem corrected and I am getting phone calls for them everyday. I have bought furniture from them and have been disappointed with the quality of the furniture. A coffee table I bought this year has a few ceramic tile pieces for decoration that came off the table as we were assembling it. I bought a bedroom suite from them about 6 years ago that has an issue with the drawers not pushing all the way in. I have 2 drawers on the 6 draw chest that will not completely push in.

Couch and love seat defect

bought love seat and couch and had come in had them take it back twise each time they brought them they were broke.very last time they came okay but, the couch broke in the back and I did buy the extra protetion plan and so I called to get it replaced and they said it has already been one year, I thought it was good for 5??? oh well I will NEVER buy any thing from there again since a couch will only last a year well ayear and 2 weeks!!!!!! come on really !!! what kind of people are to sell junk?

They don't make the furniture- they sell it. It isn't their fault if it falls apart or breaks.

In regards to your protection plans, are you not given something with the details? Details like the time frame and/or what's covered?

Had the same issue's with 3 piece set very expensive...the back pillows were falling apart and plus i had the protection plan. was told i was stuck with them that the pillows in the set was not covered in the protection plan.

I said I wanted my money back and they said i would only receive 1/2 credit on my purchase. *** enough to go back and buy two years latter same thing all the springs in the couch was ripping through the fabric and guess what?

never got a phone call..If your looking at buying some furniture and want piece of *** stuff and poor service this is the place for you!!! It looks pretty on the show room but you will have buyers remorse later

Sold new asian furniture as antiques.

We selected a chest from the Mathis Brothers Asian Antique department. The saleswoman assured us they certified the chest as around 150 years old and an antique. Upon processing the transaction, the saleswoman confided there were "4 or 5" identical chests in stock, so we would not be getting the floor model. We were shocked and asked how this could be a "one of a kind antique" as she had professed with 4-5 identical pieces in the warehouse. She then took us to a supervisor that explained this brand was indeed only around 150 days old, not 150 years, but was manufactured to resemble antiques. We did not purchase the chest.

Mathis Brothers in Tulsa, OK.--good review

I dont know about you but the one in Tulsa, Ok. bends over backwards.

Well, after a little nudging. My complint rests with the online sales. They were suppose to hold a curios cabinet for me and gave them cc info and when I got there nothing had been held. I had to get a little stern to get them to act like they wanted the bsiness but form that point on I could not have asked for better.

The curio was in stock adn the right price. It was a Pulaski on slae for 1/4 the original price. I got it home and it was completely put together.

All i had to do is unpack it and put the shelves in. This is not a complaint but great service over all.

Bought a gallery curio for 761.94

I bought a curio for my wife's Christmas present and was to be delivered on 24 Dec 10. After speaking to the delivery department they informed me it would not be in until 31 Jan. In short the cashier manager was rude to me when I requested a refund and transfered me back to the sales person to whom I had already spoken to. I never received a call back from the cashier and finally called again, spoke to a different cashier who told me she had already given me credit back. Will not buy anything again from mathis bro's Nelson Peterson

Great store. Ask for Summer Banks

I love the selection of furniture at mathis bros. I read all the complaints and they were pretty awful, but I had to submit that I did have a wonderful time selecting a bedroom set and the salesperson was both efficient and thoughtful. I think the salesperson makes the difference. If you have an issue or circumstances that are away from the norm, make sure you have a thinking salesperson who takes the sale and personally carries it through. There are plenty of salespeople that want the commission so make the right choice. We stumbled upon Summer Banks who was clearly above the rest. Both thoughtful and efficient. When you go to mathis bros, ask for summer.

Delivery Drivers

I had ordered a dinning room and couch from Mathis Brothers. The first couch that was delivered I rejected, because the backing of the couch was riped. Even though the delivery guys loading the furniture saw that it was damaged, they still tried to unload the couch and deliver it to me. A few days later, the company set-up a new delivery time and didn't show-up. I called the company and they said that it was too late to get another person out to deliver the couch and I would have to wait until the next day. The next day the delivery guys brought the couch upstairs (I lived in a condo) and dropped it on the stair rails ripping a large hole in it. The delivery guys asked if I was sure that I wanted to reject the couch! I called the company again and they set-up a new delivery date and sent a third couch out a few days later. An older man came to my door with a younger man and informed me that they had my couch and that he was refusing to deliver it unless I signed a waive saying that if they damaged my couch I would take it as is. I looked downstairs and saw that they had left my couch in the middle of the street for 40 minutes while the older man sat on his cell phone complaining to Mathis Brothers that he would have to lift my couch upstairs. I refused to sign the waiver. The older man said, "How do you think I feel if I damage your couch I will have to pay for it?" "We don't work for Mathis Brothers we just contract with them to deliver their furniture to their customers." I said how do you think I would feel paying all that money for a damaged couch! After two and half hours later they finally got my couch upstairs without damaging it. I complained to the company and they apologised. If Mathis Brothers wants to have a good reputation and keep their business going they need to get rid of contracting with outside delivery companies and get their own drivers. These contracted delivery companies are the ones screwing up the delivery schedules and damaging peoples furniture.

If you purchase large, heavy furniture, it will be dinged. Period.

If you insist it be left it its protective packaging to keep said dings from happening, they WILL PROMISE THEN IGNORE YOUR REQUEST, remove it, and invariably ding it up. they can pack in more furniture if it is out of the boxes.

Mathis was eating tons of money on careless under muscled guys moving things clearly too heavy for them. They have their handy pens to cover the dings.

If it is not too bad, shelves are present, doors shut correctly, and the dings are in out of the way places, I would keep it, Next ding will be worse. Now the movers have to pay for the stuff, they can be nasty.

Seems to me that you got yourself a horrible delivery service. The problem isn't with contracted drivers (who work for Mathis 7days a week, making them just as much an employee) it was with that certain delivery service Whomever that was needs to come on down to the okc store for some much needed training.

That is NOT how we do things, and I would like to apologize for that delivery service making us drivers look bad. There is no way it should've taken them 2 hours to deliver a sofa upstairs.

I could've done it in ten minutes Without putting a mark on the furniture....on the first try. Once again, I'm so sorry that your delivery experience was so bad.

Bait and switch

In July of this year we were looking for a King sized bed at Mathis Bros in Oklahoma City. We found what we were looking for at a great price. The salesman said this item was not scheduled to be in until September. We told him we were not going to sleep on a air mattress for 2 months. He showed us the King beds that were in stock right now. The 3 he showed us were 50-75% higher priced than the one we picked. Buyers beware, they are kings of bait and switch. We found our King bed at a competitor down the street.

You didn't read my post. It was NOT a mattress, but a King size bed, headboard and frame.

We already had the mattress in storage and were not going to bring it over until the bed was set up. My comments stand.

You obviously have no idea what Bait and Switch means. You went to the store and just happened to like a mattress that what was out of stock, probably because others like yourself liked the mattress and the deal, that is not a bait and switch as you were never baited.

Mathis Brothers Furniture is junk!

I bought a set of sofas supposedly by "Lane" which no way can they be, and within a year all three pieces are ripping. Plus one of the recliners has a metal rod sticking out of the frame. and every time we sit on the love seat the frame sounds like it going to crack.I can't stand seeing their commercials. These were bought at the Ontario ca.store. I might understand having a problem with one, but all three. Why didn't I check the consumer report before going down there. What a expensive lesson. Who knows where these sofas come from?

I hate to say this. but we have had 2 Lane products 1 sectional and 1 sofa and love seat set.

We don't care for that manufacturer at all. And the purchase was made from JCPenney.

Still no furniture

after buying furniture at Mathis bros. in indio ca. we have waited over 1 month and still no delivery.do yourself a favor and shop somewhere else.be sure to make sure they credit you back your money.that is also a problem with these people.they will promise you the moon but fail to live up to anything.withover fifteen pecent un employment in our valley it would seem they would try harder to help citizens, but just the opposite applies.remember the worst experience with a sales man you ever had,this is probabably worst.good luck,and boycott mahis bros.

Had same experience in Tulsa. Problem is Mathis owns everything here.

Paid 800.00 for ottomon up front. They kept my money for 6 months all the while promising it was "on a truck" or the oil spill was delaying it, excuse after excuse.

Never could be made at factory come to find out. Total lie which they would have continued had I not filed BB complaint.

I'm also from the Coachella Valley and had the worst experiance with the Mathis Brothers in Indio, I will never buy from them again. Mattress was on clearance and I didnt know it was damaged, so I was informed I could not bring it back. I was a poor college student at the time and had no idea what to do.

Need furniture cleaned!!!

When I purchased my furniture about 3 years ago I also bought the Five Year Furniture Protection Plan well im in need of my furniture to be cleaned I also had a rip in my couch it took them 3 months to fix it and then they said it doesnt cover furniture cleaning when I was clearly told when I purchased the Protection Plan it was covered they then told me Ihad to use an outside agency to clean it. I think its wrong and its not right u guys should honor your word but U just lost a customer and I will be buying from Snows from now own!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to call them when you have a stain, not to just randomly clean your furniture at your every whim. No one does that.

The Sitting Mathis Brother!

I don't care about their furniture, but I just thought I could tell you about something you will like! There is a story in my town about the Mathis brother who is always sitting down and it's no joke. Seems he and the one with him on TV were illegally fishing on someone's land a long time ago; got caught and the sitting one had a live catfish stuck up his pooper and had to have surgery! No wonder he sits on his *** in those commercials! It's all over this town! Too funny! Crazy ***!

We put money down on furniture to hold until we moved to Tulsa

After having put 800 dollars to hold furniture until we moved to Tulsa on the 23rd, we recieved a call from Mathis Brothers saying they were going to sell the entertainment center we had on hold unless we came down and paid it in full and we had to take it immediately.

Now to keep this we must drive down 90 miles and pay for it and of course we have no where to have it delivered as we are not moving to Tulsa until the 23. Our worst experience in 42 years of purchasing furniture. Our agreement was to pay 10 down and the balance on the 23rd and have it delivered on the 24th.

Mathis Brothers has lost our business in the future over this deal.

What The Merchant Must Do

* Hold the items you want, or identical items, and deliver them to you on a specific date after you have made all your payments

* Give you a receipt each time you make a payment

* Sell you the goods at the price set in the agreement, even if the price goes up. If the price goes down within 10 days of the agreement, the seller must give you the reduced price.

* Give you a written statement, within 10 days, showing the price of the goods on layaway and how much you still owe, if you request this information in writing

Sold my chair after i paid for it! it was the last one of course!!

went in, picked out a great chair ..we paid for it right then..went back the next day with a larger vehicle to pick up my new chair and after waiting for quit some time..come to find out they had sold it...couldnt believe it! sold my chair i had paid for!!! yep! i was pissed..oh and get this..it was the last one and had been dicontinued.. they ofered to sell me the floor model for the same price...heck no,it kinda felt like a used piece of furniture..my sells ladie was super nice..but can you imagin how pissed she was missing out on her commision! id quit if i was her..made her look like an ***... good luck future shoppers!

Failure to Deliver, on SO Many Levels

Mathis Bros is the worst furniture buying experience I have ever had. A bedroom set that was ordered and paid for was never actually ever made. Delivery dates came and went. The store continued to pretend the furniture was coming when they knew it was never made (final confession by the sales person when I canceled my order). That confession also revealed a well known issue with the furniture maker regarding their lack of response to orders. It was totally dishonest of them to knowingly promise me delivery of furniture without disclosing the possible delay in delivery, and completely dishonest of them to give me a 2nd delivery date that said I would have my furniture when they knew all along that the furniture was not being delivered. Weeks and months were wasted in dealing with this company, something that will never happen again with me. I urge anyone reading this to run as fast as you can away from Mathis Bros. You'll be grateful you did.
